Film Producer Tyler Perry Reveals Plans To Move to Puerto Rico as He Prepares To ‘Slow Down’ His Hollywood Career
Movie mogul Tyler Perry has revealed that he plans to move to Puerto Rico at the beginning of 2027—as he prepares to "slow down" his famously demanding work schedule.
Perry opened up about his future while appearing on "Today with Jenna & Sheinelle," revealing that he and his 11-year-old son, Aman, will soon be trading California for Puerto Rico.
"Yep, moving to Puerto Rico at the top of the year, and I’m pulling back a whole lot," Perry shared when asked about his plans for the next chapter of his life.
Perry, who celebrated his 57th birthday last week, explained that relocating had long been in the back of his mind. However, getting older prompted him to take a closer look at his priorities—and reconsider just how much of his life he wants to devote to work.

“Getting older [inspired this]. It’s time to slow down a bit, enjoy more time with my son, and just take it all in.”
The A-lister, who shares his son with Gelila Bekele, whom he was in a relationship with from 2009 to 2020, further confessed that he doesn't ever plan on getting married.
“At this age, no, that’s not a good idea for me. So no, won’t be any marriage for me," he added.
Although Perry has confirmed that he will make the move, its unclear if he will sell any of the homes in his impressive property portfolio.
Perry holds the keys to an impressive 1,200-acre property in Atlanta, which he snapped up in 2018 and constructed a 35,000-square-foot mansion on, in addition to a second property.
The home features a resort-style pool and a farm with horses and other animals.
The property is also situated just a few miles from his studios, which span 330 acres.
Tyler Perry Studios boasts a replica of the White House, an airport terminal, two baseball fields, a strip mall, a residential neighborhood, and a golf course.
Elsewhere in California, Perry owns a 22-acre Beverly Ridge estate, which he picked up for $4.3 million in 2004.
He spent several years overhauling the home into the 24,000-square-foot dwelling it is today.
The property comes with eight bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, and has hosted several A-listers, including Barack Obama, Oprah, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Perry welcomed Meghan and Harry into the home in 2020 after they stepped down from their royal duties.
Speaking about Perry's kind gesture, Markle told Oprah, "We needed a house and he offered security as well. So it gave us breathing room to try to figure out what we are going to do."
Later, the couple repaid the film producer by making him godfather to their daughter, Lilibet.
“I had to take a minute to take that in, and I thought, 'I’d be honored. I’d absolutely be honored,'" Perry said.
Over in Wyoming, Perry owns a log cabin as a vacation home, which he snapped up in 2005.
In 2009, Perry gave himself a particularly extravagant birthday present when he purchased White Bay Cay in the Bahamas, along with a neighboring island.
White Bay Cay spans around 25 acres, while the adjacent island adds 7 more acres to Perry's secluded escape.
The two had been listed together for $7 million, although the amount Perry ultimately paid was not disclosed.
Perry told People that he even took flying lessons so he could pilot his own plane to the property.
He later outfitted his island escape with a Balinese-style villa and bungalows, creating a private getaway worthy of a Hollywood mogul.
